Do you wear cords?
Cords are actually very comfortable pants. Warm, easy to wear, and as flexible as jeans. Plus, they come in a ton of colours and styles. I was inspired to write a post about cords from a pair I saw in my feed from Stylezilla - these are showcased on the left below.

As a blind test, you won’t find much different between the pants on the left and the ones on the right. The left ones are perhaps more of a “regular” fit than a relaxed fit, but that seems pretty much it. So, would you believe the ones on the left, from Dior, sell $340 while the ones on the right, from Old Navy are $24.50?
Brand names are never quite worth it when you look at it that way.
Ok, if you want cords, here’s what to look for:
- clean front and back (no pleats)
- 100% cotton courduroy
- vintage finish a plus when black or blue (kind of a brushed look)
- straight leg or bootcut (too baggy with the loose fit can look too casual, limiting when you can wear the pants)
- lower rise, if you can cut it, so you can show off a belt
- must have belt loops
- if you choose black, make sure the entire black is not too faded (fade marks are ok, but not all faded)
- don’t choose a cord that is too thin or too thick - some raise too much, others are barely visible. Compare to see the differences.

Any suggestions on the complimenting pieces to a “cord ensemble”? I’m a bit hesitant to look into them more without knowing what I should/shouldn’t wear with them.
..and when would you say they are/aren’t appropriate to wear?
